Gayle A. Fishman
Principal
Ms. Fishman received her BSN from the
University of New Hampshire and an MBA from Boston College,
Chestnut Hill, MA, in 1987 with concentrations in Finance and Marketing. Prior to entering business school, she was employed as
a registered nurse at the Massachusetts General Hospital for ten
years in clinical nursing. Gayle worked in the specialty
units (cardiac, surgical and medical intensive care units) as well
as the acute care dialysis center and post anesthesia care
unit. After receiving her graduate degree, Ms. Fishman
directed the Medicare Product Line of Physician's Health Services,
developing health care management programs and reducing costs for
the largest HMO in Connecticut. After three years as
Director of Medical Staff Administration and managing the clinical
service of the Shriners Hospital for Children - Burns Hospital,
Boston, Ms. Fishman returned to the Massachusetts General Hospital
as a Project Manager for the Department of Surgery where she was
responsible for optimizing patient care and efficiency in the
operating rooms. Ms. Fishman directed the development of the
operating room database to manage patient flow, surgical time,
operating room space allocation, and equipment utilization as well
as developed interfaces to improve billing efficiency.
Prior to founding HealthSystems Redesign,
Inc. in 1997, Ms. Fishman was a Project Specialist and senior
Analyst at Partners Health Care, Inc. Boston, MA. She was
responsible for the development and implementation of the first
commercial joint venture between Partners Health Care System and
a large pharmaceutical company, a Regional Intravenous Compounding Center for
Partners' major hospitals. She provided support to the hospitals
with the financial analyses, demonstrating savings in drug costs
and long-term profitability for the joint venture. Ms.
Fishman also managed several operational teams which implemented
practice changes within the hospitals to support the shift from
the mini-bags to syringe platform.
Ms. Fishman also managed many successful
Partners initiatives including a Tuberculosis Compliance Testing
Program, the Special Coagulation Laboratory Consolidation Team,
and the Pharmacy Cost Reduction Team which identified many
initiatives to meet a $3 million target.
